Meriva
Opel Meriva

After the success of Zafira Opel put on the market a car, which with clear conscience one can call a smaller version of it. For first time Meriva was presented in 2002, during an exhibition in Paris. The model belongs to a class of distinguished minivans with an extremely flexible and spacious interior, and that's why she has united many fans.

The production started in 2003 in Zaragoza. Since Meriva appeared in showrooms it could be purchased both with petrol engines and diesel. At the beginning they were 1.6 l gasoline engines with  power of 64 kW, 1.8 l with power of 92 kW, and the turbodiesel 1.7 DTI (55 kW). Subsequently, more modern ones and that with greater power joined the offer, as in the case of this model is very important because it is a heavy car (1300 kg) and it is not easy to set it in motion.

Opel Meriva is based on the platform of the Corsa C. The body is quite neat, but as it is for the family car, we can not expect extravagant solutions. The same is for the interior. IInside is spruce and aesthetic, some might say that it is even raw.

But the most important feature of this model is the applied, like in Zafira, system FlexSpace. It allows us to fold one of the rear seats and to change Meriva for exceptionally spacious four-person car. If we need much luggage space, we can also move the rear seat completely forward or to fold them completely. This increases the capacity of the trunk (boot) -  350 to 1,410 l. These changes are enabled to us by a large wheelbase, which is 2630 mm.

Thanks to accurate steering system and good suspension we can drive Meriva quite well even in the winding streets. Yet we should remember of the previously-mentioned weight of the car, particularly during the choice of engine.

To sum up, the space and functionality makes Opel Meriva a car worthy of recommendance. In addition, in the 2007 reliability report, prepared by TUV, in the category of 3 years old car, the model was placed at the honorable first place.
